Uniformed Groups, Clubs and Societies
Following Yishun Secondary School Symphonic Band’s achievement of Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), the band was invited to perform at the Istana Open House on Hari Raya Puasa 2017. The band entertained the visitors with a variety of melodies ranging from familiar Malay folk tunes, to hit songs of Disney’s movies and the Pirates of the Caribbean movie installations, to widely acclaimed Japanese Anime soundtracks. It was also the band’s delightful privilege to have the then President Dr Tony Tan and Mrs Mary Tan grace the performance. The band rose to the occasion with grace and excellence, and their rousing performance was met with positive responses from the audience who gave a standing ovation at the finale. Last, but not least, appreciation must be given to the school leaders, teachers and instructors who have believed in and developed the Yishun Secondary School Symphonic Band members To Seek, To Strive and To Soar!
