Dear Parents, Students and Partners

 

Yishun Secondary School has grown from strength to strength over the past 32 years as an educational institution. I am thankful to the previous school leaders who have laid down a strong foundation in more ways than one.

It is with great pleasure and honour that I am able to lead Yishun Secondary School from December 2018.  Together with my staff, I will continue the journey towards achieving the school’s vision of Quality Mind, Caring Heart.

In Yishun Secondary, one of our key objectives is to provide a holistic education that strives to develop our students as all-rounders who are equipped with the intellectual capacity as well as the sound moral grounding necessary for them to embrace the challenges in life.

One of Yishun Secondary key milestones is the development in the area of the Arts and Aesthetics as well as the school’s leadership programme. Yishun Secondary is the first school in Singapore to have established the Applied Learning Programme in Sonic Arts. Having established a niche in this area enables our students to explore and develop their artistic knowledge, skills and talents. In addition, the Learning for Life Programme in Youth and Community Leadership aims to develop and harness our students’ leadership skills and knowledge. With these skills, we hope that our Yishunites will feel compelled and empowered to contribute meaningfully back to society.

Moving forward, Yishun Secondary will continue to pursue exciting curriculum through varied and differentiated pedagogies. The various departments in Yishun Secondary have already spearheaded curriculum innovations to effectively engage our students in the various disciplines so as to provide authentic learning opportunities for all our students.

I look forward to journey together with our parents, our stakeholders, my staff and our students during my service as Principal in Yishun Secondary School.
